Who We Are?

Word Alive Church International was birthed on May 1, 1994, as a Bible Study group led by Bishop Wesley T. Cherry, originally consisting of four families. By remaining faithful to the vision of the ministry and following the leading of the Holy Spirit, the ministry has witnessed continual growth as the Lord added covenant partners to the church and souls to the Kingdom of God.

The ministry joined Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship International (F.G.B.C.F.I.) in 1995, establishing its apostolic covering and spiritual alignment. In October 1999, Pastor Cherry was elevated to the office of District Overseer for the Northern Virginia District of the F.G.B.C.F.I.

In January 1999, the ministry became affiliated with Faith Bible College and began serving as a satellite site for individuals seeking theological education and college credit opportunities.

In 2007, Overseer Cherry was installed into the Office of Bishop in Atlanta, Georgia. In 2010, Bishop Cherry was elevated to serve as the Bishop of the Commonwealth of Virgin.

Building upon the strong spiritual foundation, legacy of leadership, and vision established by Bishop Wesley T. Cherry and First Lady Jan Marie Cherry, Pastor Mark R. Danner and First Lady Latandra M. Danner were officially installed as the Senior Pastor and First Lady of Word Alive Church International on March 8, 2026. Their installation marked the beginning of a new chapter of ministry focused on love, unity, spiritual growth, community impact, and advancing the mission and vision of the church for future generations.

We believe in “Total Deliverance” by the power of the Holy Spirit through the laying on of hands; physical healing, drug/alcohol addition, sexual perversion, etc.

We believe in the freedom of the Holy Spirit; dancing in the spirit, prophesying and words of faith.
